URUPEMA

We are proud to work with experienced professionals and in the case of finishing, we entrust our pieces only to professionals who carry decades of experience in painting. Only time can make a professional reference of what he does, eyes that can see what many eyes do not see, hands that carry skills acquired not only by repetition but by the passion to make a product a finished piece. The precision of the application of each fan that comes out of the spray gun, the thorough review of each product surface, are characteristics that we observe and value, as we know that the finish is an important aspect of the relationship between people and objects.

Frozen waterfall, city of Urupema-SC

The word Urupema originates from Tupi-Guarani, uru-pema, which means cornered, angular, or framed basket, often used as a sieve to drain coconut milk, açaí, cassava, and bacaba. It is also the name of a city located in Santa Catarina, in the Campos de Lages area, reinforcing the relationship between the product and the state where the Urupema coffee tables are manufactured.

The choice of the name is based on the principle of formal similarity between the prominent element of the table and the basket. A dominant cubic opening that breaks the monotony of the ensemble, projecting its edge above the surface of the main blocks, attracting great aesthetic and functional attention.

The first impression of the Urupema Center Table is generalist, with a massive and monoblock look, it ends up producing a striking aesthetic. However, when analyzed in detail, there is a gap between the three blocks that make up the table. This 15mm gap at all contact edges between solids is an essential aesthetic element, which brings light and shade to the lateral contact planes, relieving the initial formal weight.

With exploratory aesthetics, the Urupema table seeks to evoke the beauty of massive blocks carefully balanced through spans, lights, reflections, and shadows. Therefore, it is, above all, a piece that reveals itself to be fractionated due to the curiosity of the eyes, allowing an understanding on multiple levels ranging from the superficial generalist and monolithic to the subtlety of the reflections in the metallic spacers hidden in the shadows.
